80+ People Screened: Our Health Day with Hidden Hearing & the Irish Heart Foundation

We recently welcomed Hidden Hearing and the Irish Heart Foundation back to Finnegan's Pharmacy for a free health screening day — and it was another brilliant turnout, with over 80 people from the Sallynoggin community coming through our doors to get checked.

A recurring partnership we're proud of

This wasn't a one-off. We've now run this event with Hidden Hearing and the Irish Heart Foundation for three years running, and every single time it grows a little more. Both organisations do incredible work, and we're genuinely proud to keep partnering with them — it's exactly the kind of thing we think a community pharmacy should be doing.

What the day involved

Qualified nurses were on hand throughout the day carrying out screenings for everyone who called in, checking things like blood pressure and general heart health. It's quick, it's free, and for a lot of people it's the first time they've had it checked in years.

That matters more than it might sound — this year's screenings picked up a number of people with hypertension who had no idea they had it. High blood pressure rarely comes with obvious symptoms, so a five-minute check like this can genuinely catch something serious before it becomes a much bigger problem.

Why we keep doing this

Days like this are exactly why we love being part of this community. It's not about selling anything — it's about giving people in Sallynoggin an easy, no-pressure way to find out how they're really doing, and connecting them with the right support if something needs following up on.

A huge thank you to the team at Hidden Hearing and the Irish Heart Foundation for giving up their time and expertise once again, and to everyone who came in to get checked. We'll be back working with them again — same time next year, all being well.
