Learning Skills That Could Save a Life: Our CPR & Choking Awareness Event with the Order of Malta
At Finnegan's Pharmacy, we've always believed that community pharmacy is about so much more than medicines. It's about looking after the people around us, promoting good health, and giving our community the knowledge and confidence to help one another when it matters most.
That belief came to life on Saturday, 28th March, when we proudly welcomed the Order of Malta to Finnegan's Pharmacy to host a free CPR and choking awareness event for our customers and the wider Sallynoggin community.
Hands-on skills for real emergencies
Throughout the day, people of all ages stopped by to take part in practical demonstrations, learning the vital skills needed to respond in an emergency. From performing CPR to recognising and treating someone who is choking, attendees were given hands-on guidance by the experienced volunteers from the Order of Malta in a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment.

One of the most rewarding parts of the day was seeing the confidence grow in those who took part. For many, it was their first time learning these life-saving techniques, and they left knowing they could one day help protect a loved one, a friend, a neighbour, or even a complete stranger.
These are skills that stay with you for life, and we hope they're skills that never need to be used — but if they are, they could make all the difference.
The feedback from everyone who attended was fantastic. We were delighted to hear how much people enjoyed the demonstrations and how valuable they found the experience. Knowing that we helped members of our community gain practical, potentially life-saving knowledge made the event incredibly worthwhile.
