What is HRT?
Hormone Replacement Therapy helps relieve common symptoms of menopause such as:

Sleep difficulties
It works by replacing the hormones (like estrogen) that your body produces less of during menopause.
What’s Free?
Under the new HRT scheme, the following are now free at participating pharmacies:

The cost of the medication
-
The dispensing fee (usually €5)
You just need a valid prescription, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Who’s Eligible?
You can get free HRT if you:

Have a Medical Card, or
-
Are registered with the Drugs Payment Scheme (DPS)
Don’t have a DPS card? You can register online at mydps.ie – it’s quick, free, and there’s no income assessment.
What Products Are Covered?
Most commonly prescribed HRT treatments are included, such as:

Patches
-
Tablets
-
Gels
-
Creams or pessaries
-
Vaginal rings
-
Some hormone-releasing coils

How to Get Started

Visit your GP: Get a prescription for HRT.

Bring your GMS or DPS card and prescription to us.

We’ll do the rest: dispense your medication, offer advice, and make sure you feel confident using it.
